Populations
Data on livestock populations offers important insights into the distribution of different species around the world. But national and subnational-level population data can be scarce or inconsistent, so modelling approaches are being used to close data gaps and improve overall data quality. Livestock population evidence is fundamental for anyone analysing options for sustainable livestock sector development. For example, epidemiological studies depend on reliable population data, while the public and private sector need population data to inform vaccine distribution.
