One Health
One Health defines an approach in which different disciplines collaborate to design and implement programmes, policies, legislation and research for the benefit of public health and environment. In particular, One Health considers food safety, zoonotic disease, and specific issues such as antimicrobial resistance.
The livestock sector is highly relevant to One Health. Animals and humans share many eco-systems, therapies and pathogens; the later of which can emerge sporadically bringing significant risks to societies' health, well-being and economies. A One Health approach is advantageous in tackling these multidisciplinary challenges.
